Aggravated Robbery in the City of Urbana 09/07/2026
September 07, 2026

On August 15, 2026, at approximately 10:44 p.m., an aggravated robbery occurred at the Walgreens located at 302 East University Avenue in Urbana. The suspect entered the store and approached the employee working at the counter. The suspect placed a note on the counter demanding money before he reached into the rear of his waistband and threatened to shoot the employee. The suspect then provided the employee with a plastic bag and the employee placed an undisclosed amount of US currency into the bag. The suspect fled the store on foot, traveling north.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 5'05" tall, with an average build and dreadlocks. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a light blue ball cap, blue surgical mask, a white t-shirt with a blue print in a cross design, black Nike athletic shorts, black socks, and blue Crocs-style shoes.

Hit and Run- Posted 8/31/2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a hit and run.

On July 31st, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., a male exited Walmart at 845 Broadmeadow Road in Rantoul and entered a gray Audi SUV with Florida registration plates. The male then backed the vehicle out of its parking spot and struck the rear driver’s side quarter panel of a second vehicle causing over $1000 in damage to that vehicle. He then left the scene.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a slim black male, wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts, and white and pink shoes. The suspect’s vehicle appeared to be a gray or silver Audi Q7 SUV with multi-spoked wheels.

Retail Theft - 8/24/26
August 24, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
 
On August 9, 2026, at approximately 11:21 a.m., a male and female entered Walmart at 2610 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The subjects selected multiple items then proceeded past the self-checkout registers without stopping to make payment. The subjects exited the store with a cart full of stolen merchandise valued at over $500. They then fled the area in a black Chevy Suburban.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as a slim black male and a light-skinned black female. The male was described as wearing a black do-rag, white t-shirt, and long, knee-length blue shorts. The female was described as wearing a purple dress.

Criminal Damage to Property in Mahomet - Posted 8/17/26
August 17, 2026

Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance regarding a criminal damage to property investigation.

Sometime between the hours of 7 pm on August 2 and 5 am on August 3, 2026, an unknown person damaged a vehicle parked at the Lake of the Woods apartments, located at 307 N Prairieview Rd. in Mahomet. The vehicle, a gray Jeep, had all four tires intentionally punctured.

Investigators are seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area during this time. Police are also asking residents who live in or near the Lake of the Woods apartments to review any doorbell, security, or other surveillance video that may have captured suspicious persons or vehicles during the overnight hours.



Residential Burglary and Criminal Damage to property -08/10/2026
August 10, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a residential burglary and criminal damage to property. On July 24th, 2026 around 8:40 p.m., an unknown male subject entered a residential building located in the 200 block of East Armory Avenue in Champaign. The male damaged electronic equipment and wiring inside the building, valued at over $2000. The male fled on foot when confronted by a resident.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on surveillance video. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male, approximately 18-25 years old, wearing black shorts and a distinctive black backpack.

Forgery- Posted 8/3/26

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a forgery.
 
On July 20, 2026, at approximately 10:49 a.m., a female and two children entered Walmart at 2610 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The female collected multiple items throughout the store then proceeded to the registers to make payment. An employee scanned the merchandise which totaled just under $500, and the suspect attempted to pay with counterfeit $100 bills. When the employee went to verify the bills with a supervisor, the suspect fled the scene with the children.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a black female, approximately 30 to 40 years old. She was described as having tattoos and wearing a black t-shirt with pink writing. The suspect arrived in a red Honda sedan but fled without the vehicle. She returned later in a black SUV and recovered her vehicle.

Theft of Lost or Mislaid Property - 7/27/26

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a theft of lost or mislaid property.
 
On July 14, 2026, at approximately 1:42 PM, officers responded to Dollar General at 1506 North Cunningham Avenue in Urbana. Upon arrival, officers learned a female had stolen another customer’s mislaid purse and its contents while holding an infant who was approximately six months old. The suspect left the store in a white 4-door Dodge Ram pickup truck with a black bed cover.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a black female, approximately 30 years of age. She was described as wearing a black hair bonnet, blue t-shirt, black sweatpants, black socks, white slides, and a black satchel.

Retail Theft in Champaign - Posted 7/20/26

Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.

On June 12, 2026, at 11:45 a.m., an unknown male entered Home Depot in Champaign and selected plumbing products and numerous smoke and carbon monoxide detectors valued at more than $4,500. He then paid for the merchandise with counterfeit $100 bills.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a heavy-set black male, approximately 50 years of age. He was wearing a gray/yellow ballcap with an American flag patch, a gray Miller Pipeline work shirt, dark gray work pants, and tan boots. He left in a white full-size SUV.

Shooting Investigation in Champaign - Posted 7/13/26

On June 29, 2026, at approximately 2:09 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the 1100-block of North Fourth Street in Champaign following reports of subjects exchanging gunfire. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area and quickly located evidence of a shooting. No victims were reported but one home was struck by gunfire during the incident.

Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.

Retail Theft- Posted 7/6/2026
July 06, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.
 
On April 6, 2026, at approximately 8:22 p.m., two females entered Meijer located at 2401 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The females selected numerous items including a large bag. One female distracted an employee while the other attempted to remove the security spider wrap off the high-dollar items. The suspects then concealed the items in the large bag and fled with nearly $600.00 in stolen merchandise.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as black females, approximately 18-25 years old, and both with distinctive red hair. The first was described as wearing a black leather jacket, dark patterned pants, and pink shoes. The second female was described as wearing a red/black top, distressed jeans, and flip flops. The females left on public transportation.

Shooting Investigation in Champaign - Posted 6/29/26

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting investigation.
 
On June 6, 2026, at approximately 12:06 a.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to the 2000-block of Cynthia Drive in Champaign following reports of a shooting with injuries. On-scene, officers quickly located a 16-year-old male victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound. Police and Fire personnel began life-saving medical care until he could be transported to an area hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
 
Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.


Multiple Retail Thefts in Urbana - Posted 6/15/26
June 15, 2026

On May 28, 2026, a male suspect entered Schnucks located at 200 North Vine Street in Urbana. The male selected and concealed approximately $160 worth of meat products and fled without offering payment. He left on foot toward the 400 block of Urbana Avenue.

The suspect is described as a white male with dark facial hair. During this incident, he was wearing a black sweatshirt, camouflage cargo shorts, and distinctive black-and-gold Nike shoes.

Investigators believe this same individual may also be responsible for a series of sports trading card thefts from Walmart at 505 South Dunlap Avenue in Savoy. In these incidents, the suspect selected numerous packs of trading cards and left the store without paying for the merchandise.

On May 25, 2026, the suspect wore a black tank top, khaki cargo shorts, and the same distinctive black-and- gold Nike shoes. Video revealed tattoos on his arms and upper right back/shoulder area. He fled this incident with approximately $500 worth of trading cards.

On May 28, 2026, the suspect was observed wearing a black hat, black flannel shirt, a black t-shirt with red and white lettering, and what appeared to be the same camouflage cargo shorts. On this occasion, the suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of trading cards.

Shooting Investigation- Posted 6/8/26

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting investigation.
 
On May 24, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the 500-block of East Grove Street in Champaign following multiple reports of gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers canvassed the area for witnesses or video and quickly located evidence of a shooting. No victims were reported to be hit by gunfire.
 
The initial investigation indicated there was a large gathering in the area and subjects had exchanged gunfire. Investigators are attempting to identify individuals involved in this incident.
 
Police are asking any resident or business in the nearby area with exterior surveillance cameras and/or persons with cell phone video to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area around the time of the incident. It is believed video footage may be of investigative assistance.


Shooting Investigation in Champaign - Posted 6/1/26
June 01, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting investigation.
 
On May 6, 2026, at 2:36 a.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to the 1200 block of Redwood Drive following a report of a shooting with injuries. On scene, officers located a 27-year-old male victim with potentially life threatening gunshot wounds. Officers immediately administered emergency medical aid on scene with assistance from the Champaign Fire Department until the victim could be transported to an area hospital. He continues to recover from his injuries.
 
The initial investigation indicated the victim was walking in the 1000 block of West Beardsley when he encountered another individual. This interaction resulted in a physical confrontation during which a firearm was produced, and multiple shots were fired with the victim being struck multiple times. The victim fled the area on foot and was located by officers in the 1200 block of Redwood Drive.
 
Investigators are attempting to identify the second male involved in the confrontation. He was described as a black male with a thin build, wearing a mask and all-black clothing.


Retail Theft in Champaign - Posted 5/26/26
May 26, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.

On April 19, 2026, at 6:00 p.m., two females entered Old Navy located at 2000 N Neil St. in Champaign. The women grabbed a mesh bag, selected numerous items, and concealed them in the bag and inside a purse. They then placed the mesh bag full of unpaid merchandise near the front exit and walked out. Shortly afterwards, the females pulled up near the exit in a Kia SUV and one female went inside and grabbed the stashed bag. The suspects then fled with the stolen merchandise valued at more than $800.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as black females, approximately 25-35 years old. Suspect one was described as wearing a black shirt, white pants, and white Crocs. Suspect two was wearing glasses, an all-gray outfit, and green Crocs. Both females were carrying black purses.

Credit Card Fraud in Champaign - Posted 5/18/26

On March 20, 2026, at approximately 1:00 p.m., a male suspect entered Best Buy located at 2117 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. The suspect applied for various forms of credit accounts using the victim’s stolen identity. He then used the various credit accounts and purchased numerous cell phones and other electronic devices. The victim later received the credit card bill which totaled several thousand dollars.

Shooting in Urbana - Posted 5/3/26
May 04, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting investigation.
 
On December 24, 2025, at approximately 10:44 PM, officers responded to a reported shooting with injuries at the Circle K, 507 West University Avenue in Urbana. Upon arrival, officers learned a light skinned black male suspect entered the business armed with a black and silver small caliber handgun and demanded the employee open the cash register. During the incident, the suspect battered and shot the employee several times. The suspect stole personal items from the employee before he fled in a white pickup truck he had previously stolen from the 1900 block of North Cunningham Avenue in Urbana. The truck was later recovered by officers, but the suspect was not located. The Circle K employee received medical treatment for their injuries and was later released from the hospital.
 
Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 6’00 tall, wearing all black attire - a black puffer style jacket, facemask, sunglasses with a reflective rim, a black shirt with a white graphic, Nike pants and shoes, black True Religion underwear, and black/gray mechanics gloves.

Retail Theft in Champaign - Posted 4/27/26
April 27, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.

On April 11, at 3:57 p.m., a retail theft occurred at Old Navy, located at 2000 N. Neil St. in Champaign. A female entered the store with an empty bag. She accessed a theft detection device and used it to remove multiple anti-theft devices from clothing prior to concealing the items in the bag. The female left without attempting to pay for the items. Five minutes later, the female reentered the store with an empty bag and again accessed the theft detection device. She selected more clothing and repeated the process before walking out without stopping to make payment. The stolen merchandise was valued at just under $600.

The suspect was described as a black female wearing a light blue jacket with white lettering, black leggings, and black shoes.

Retail Theft in the City of Champaign 4/20/2026
April 20, 2026

On April 4, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., two females entered Old Navy located at 2000 North Neil Street in Champaign. The females walked throughout the store together while suspect one selected a bag and concealed numerous items. When leaving the store, suspect one grabbed two sweatshirts and wrapped them around the concealed clothing. As the females passed through the anti-theft machines the clothing tags triggered the alarms both audibly and visually and the suspects continued walking making no attempt to stop and make payment. The females left with over $500 in stolen merchandise.

Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspects captured on video. The suspects were described as black females, approximately 25-30 years old. Suspect one was described as having a medium build and wearing a pink sweatsuit. Suspect two was wearing all black clothing. The suspects fled in a red 4-door sedan

Retail Theft in Champaign - Posted 4/13/26
April 13, 2026

Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft. On July 14, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., an unknown male entered Walmart located at 2610 N Prospect Ave. in Champaign. The male quickly selected a full cart of merchandise and proceeded to the self-checkout area where he scanned and bagged all the items and pretended to make payment. Loss prevention staff confronted the male at the exit and he immediately let go of the cart and fled to a vehicle waiting in the parking lot. Staff recovered almost $900 in merchandise from the attempted theft. Police seek the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect captured on video. The suspect was described as a white male, approximately 35-40 years old, with a beard and several arm tattoos. He was last seen wearing a blue and white Kimes Ranch ballcap, a black and green shirt, and black pants. The suspect fled in a red 4-door Chevrolet sedan with an unknown male driver.
