Retail Theft at Good Vibes Sound - 4-4-22
April 04, 2022

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft.

On March 22, 2022, at 12:15 p.m., two females entered Good Vibes Sound at 2010 Round Barn Road in Champaign. One female distracted an employee while the other selected electronics from a display case and proceeded to exit the store without paying for them. The second female then grabbed product as she
followed her out the door. The females fled the store with stolen merchandise totaling more than $2,400.

Investigators need the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video. The suspects are described as black females in their 20’s. One suspect was wearing a black sweatshirt, green pajama style pants, and black Nike slides. The second suspect was wearing a black hair bonnet, jacket and shirt, light colored pants, and boots. They fled the area in a white 4-door vehicle.

Reckless Discharge of a Firearm in Champaign -03/28/2022
March 28, 2022

On March 22, 2022, at approximately 7:33 p.m., police officers responded to Blackhawk Convenience Store at 2401 West Springfield Avenue for shots fired. Upon arrival, officers found 11 spent shell casings outside of the business. Surveillance footage captured a subject shooting at the occupants of a white 2014 Chevy Malibu and one of the occupants returning fire before all parties fled the area.
 
Police are seeking assistance in identifying four subjects involved in this incident. The subjects appeared to be three black males and one black female. Subject one was wearing all black clothing, a black mask, and bright blue shoes. Subject two was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, black mask, gray pants, and white shoes. Subject three was seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a design on the arm and black pants with a design down the leg. Subject four, the female, was wearing a dark jacket, white shirt, and jeans.

Shooting in Urbana - 3/5/2022
March 21, 2022

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting.
 
On Saturday, March 5, 2022, at approximately 10:44 p.m., Urbana Police responded to the Retreat Apartment Complex in the 900 block of Welch Drive for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located 26-year-old Henry Golden with life-threatening injuries. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. A second victim arrived at the hospital by personal transport, and he is recovering from his injuries.
 
The preliminary investigation indicates the shooting stemmed from a disagreement outside a house party in the complex. Surveillance video revealed there were several potential witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting. Police are asking anyone with information, photographs, or video recordings captured in the area prior to or after the incident, or from inside or outside the party, to come forward.

Rantoul Shooting - February 26, 2022
March 14, 2022

On February 26, 2022, at approximately 11:45 p.m., police officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North Garrard Street in Rantoul for a fight. While en route, officers learned gunshots were fired, and one person had been shot. The victim, later identified as Carlos Navarrete, a 24-year-old Rantoul resident, was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

March 07, 2022

On February 26, 2021, at approximately 1:11 p.m., two people entered Best Buy at 2117 North Prospect Avenue in Champaign. They removed two iPhones from a display counter and attempted to leave the store without paying for them. When confronted at the exit, one of the offenders pepper-sprayed an employee. The
suspects fled the store with the stolen merchandise.

The suspects were described as two black females. One female was wearing a tan coat and black/white/gray leggings. The second female wore a black hooded sweatshirt with lettering on the front and black pants with a white stripe down the side. The offenders were seen leaving in a silver Buick sedan.

Retail Theft in Champaign - 2-28-22
February 28, 2022

 This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a retail theft. On December 4, 2021, at 4:38 p.m., three subjects entered the Champaign Menards, selected fourteen rolls of electrical wire, and left the store without paying for the merchandise. The wire was valued at $5,800. The suspects were described as two black males, 30 years old, and one black female in her mid-20s. One male wore a gray/light blue cap, blue coat, distressed jeans, and tan boots. The second male was wearing all black clothing and tan boots. The female was wearing a black coat, jeans, and black boots. The subjects left in a silver Chrysler. Investigators seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video.

Retail Theft - Kohls in the City of Champaign 02/21/2022
February 21, 2022

On January 18, 2022, at approximately 4:25 p.m., two subjects entered Kohls at 109 Convenience Center Road in Champaign. The suspects remained in the store for several hours, selecting merchandise. The offenders left the store separately with unpaid merchandise totaling $3,500 to $5,000.
 
The first suspect is a white male wearing a red cap and a black jacket with cartoon characters on the back. The second suspect is an Asian female wearing a black Chicago Blackhawks hoodie and carrying an oversized white coat. Investigators seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video.

Recent Burglaries– 2/6/22 and 2/10/22
February 14, 2022

On February 6, 2022, at approximately 3:40 a.m., an unknown suspect entered Winston’s Old Bank at Sidney, located at 219 South David Street in Sidney, Illinois. The suspect broke into the gaming/gambling machines and stole the cash from within the machines. The suspect left the business in a dark-colored vehicle.
 
On February 10, 2022, at approximately 3:48 a.m., three unknown suspects entered Boochies Slots and Video Poker, located at 804 North Randolph Street in Champaign. The suspects broke into several video gaming machines and an ATM, causing over $3000.00 in damage to the machines. The suspects left with an undisclosed amount of money.

Retail Theft - Walmart - 1/25/22
February 07, 2022

On January 25, 2022 around 6:15pm a theft occurred at Walmart, 100 S High Cross Rd, Urbana. A heavyset, white male between 25-35 years old, wearing a black stocking cap and gray jacket selected merchandise totaling just under $600 and left without paying. He departed in a white sedan.

Catalytic Converter Thefts
January 31, 2022

From January 2021 to present, approximately 288 catalytic converters have been stolen from vehicles at numerous locations throughout the Champaign County area. A suspect vehicle and two suspects were captured on surveillance video at more than one location. The vehicle appeared to be a dark gray Jeep Grand Cherokee with tinted windows and black rims. One suspect appeared to be a black male with a goatee, wearing a black winter hat, blue puffy jacket, and black
pants. The second suspect appeared to be an unknown race male, wearing a black winter hat or ski mask, and all dark clothing.

Battery/Disorderly Conduct in Champaign - 01/24/22

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a battery/disorderly conduct. 

On December 27, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., a male approached an Asian female while walking her dog in Hessel Park. She became alarmed by his actions and began to video record their interaction. The man made obscene gestures and remarks to her. As the lady tried to walk around the man, he slapped the phone out of her hand. The man is described as a middle-aged, white male, wearing a baseball cap, blue zip-up hoody, blue jeans, white sneakers, and glasses.

Investigators seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video.

Burglary in the City of Champaign 01/18/2022
January 18, 2022

On January 6, 2022, at approximately 3:29 a.m., two suspects broke into an ATM at CIBM Bank, located at 2913 West Kirby Avenue in Champaign. The offenders were driving a stolen maroon/silver Ford F350 pickup truck, and made away with an undisclosed amount of money.
 
Surveillance video captured the suspects at the ATM. The suspects appeared to be two males wearing hoods, masks, and gloves. Investigators seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subjects captured on video.

Armed Robbery/Aggravated Assault- 12/10/2021
January 10, 2022

On December 10, 2021, at approximately 7:48 p.m., an unknown offender entered the Family Dollar, located at 1204 North Market Street in Champaign, and brandished a firearm. The offender held the gun to an employee’s side and demanded the money from the cash register. The offender left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
 
The suspect was described as a black male, 5’6” to 5’7” tall, 100-120 pounds, wearing a black ski mask, blue surgical mask, and all-black clothing. The suspect had three tattoos on his face: one in the center of his forehead and one on each side of his eyes.
 
Investigators seek the public’s assistance in identifying the subject captured on video.

Downtown Champaign Shooting - 12/12/21
December 27, 2021

On December 12, 2021, at approximately 12:38 a.m., a fight occurred outside Stix Arcade bar, located at 120 North Walnut Street, in Champaign. An unidentified black male wearing a black coat with a fur-lined hood indiscriminately fired four shots down the sidewalk during the altercation, striking one subject. A 29-year-old male was shot and suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower left leg.

Shooting in Champaign - 12/20/21
December 20, 2021

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a shooting. 
 
On November 12, 2021, at approximately 8:57 p.m., police officers responded to Oakwood Trace Apartments, located in the 1100-block of North Third Street, in Champaign for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers learned several apartments had been struck by gunfire, and numerous spent shell casings were located. A short time later, a 40-year-old female arrived at Carle Hospital with a single gunshot wound sustained during the shooting.


Theft in the City of Champaign 12/13/2021
December 13, 2021

On November 25, 2021, at approximately 4:26 p.m., two males entered Circle K, located at 1713 West John Street in Champaign. One of the males selected merchandise and proceeded to the checkout counter. The male asked the clerk for a carton of cigarettes, and the clerk placed the carton of cigarettes on the sales counter. The male then asked for a package of cigars. The male grabbed the carton of cigarettes and fled the store while the clerk's back was turned.
 
The suspect appeared to be a heavyset black male wearing a black stocking cap, grey hoodie, grey sweatpants, white shoes, and a medical face mask. The second subject was a black male wearing a black coat, red/white/blue hoodie, grey jeans, white shoes, and a medical face mask

Burglary in the City of Champaign 12/6/21
December 06, 2021

Between November 15, 2021, at approximately 10:30 p.m., and November 16, 2021, at approximately 12:49 a.m., two males entered CU Under Construction, located at 1153 County Road 1200 East in Champaign. Surveillance cameras captured the males stealing numerous tools and other miscellaneous items.

One suspect appeared to be a black male with a goatee and short hair, wearing a white hoodie. The second suspect appeared to be a white male with balding or short hair, wearing a gray shirt. The suspects were driving a Chevrolet or GMC extended cab pickup truck, leaving the business northbound on County Road 1200 East.

Urbana Shooting on Mathews Avenue - 11/29/21
November 29, 2021

On November 15, 2021, at approximately 9:15 p.m., police officers responded to the 1500 block of Matthews Avenue in Urbana for a shooting. Officers learned the victims were seated in a parked vehicle when the occupants of another vehicle drove by and shot at them. The suspect vehicle fled the scene, traveling south on Matthews Avenue, west on Beardsley Avenue, north on Romine Street, and back west on Bradley Avenue. Officers located several spent handgun and .223 caliber shell casings at the scene. The offender was described as a black male with braids. The suspect vehicle was described as a white sedan, possibly a two-door. Police are asking businesses or citizens in the involved neighborhood with surveillance cameras to review the footage for any suspicious persons or vehicles captured in the area either during or before, or after the incident.

Colonial Liquor Burglary - 11/22/21
November 22, 2021

On November 5, 2021, at approximately 9:40 a.m., officers responded to Colonial Liquor, located at 219 South Maplewood Drive in Rantoul, for a burglary. When officers arrived, they found entry had been forced through the business' front window, and an ATM had been removed. Video surveillance from within the building showed the suspect entered the business wearing a dark hoodie, light-colored pants, and dark shoes.

Purse Stolen in Urbana - 11/15/21
November 15, 2021

This week Champaign County Crime Stoppers is seeking assistance from the public regarding a theft.

On November 3, 2021, police responded to the Walmart, located at 100 South High Cross Road in Urbana, for a theft. Officers learned the victim mistakenly left her purse in a shopping cart as she was leaving. Surveillance video captured another female taking the purse from the shopping cart. The purse contained a substantial amount of money.

The suspect appeared to be a white female, 50-60 years old, with black hair, and was last seen wearing a green jacket. The suspect was driving a gold or tan minivan.
